Features
Thanks to a large input voltage range, they offer the possibility to connect directly to the battery terminals. The converter performs then as a battery charger.
Reduced dimensions and weight contribute to an easy integration on board
It is also possible to install up to 4 converters in parallel to increase the power available.
Input voltage :
12 Vdc input at nominal rate : 10 to 18 Vdc
24 Vdc input at nominal rate : 18 to 36 Vdc
Output voltage :
12, 24 Vdc nominal.
Voltage adjustment by internal potentiometer.
Dielectric rigidity : Input/Output : >1000 Vdc
Cooling : Natural
Presentation : In closed housing ; fixing with screw terminals
Input protection : Reverse polarity. EMI filter. Fuse.
Output protection : Against short‐circuit, against overload by current limitation, against overvoltage
Standard compliant : Safety : EN 60950. EMC : EN 50081‐2.
All converters have an input/output galvanic insulation : the negative pole of the input is totally separated from the output. This avoids any risk of electro-magnetic disruption in particular with communication and navigation instruments.
The wide input voltage range (from 10 to 18 Vdc for 12 V models) allows to connect the inverter directly to the alternator output, with or without batteries inbetween.
Plastimo tips & tricks
Converter : stabiliser / regulator, used typically in 3 circumstances :
- To reduce the voltage,
- To boost the voltage,
- To stabilise the voltage.
Adjustment range of the voltage output by means of a potentiometer :
- 12 V : 10.77 to 16.17 Vdc
-
24 V : 20.50 to 32.25 Vdc
When used to stabilise, the inverter can provide a stable DC voltage with no variation. This is particularly adapted to specific equipment such as electronic navigation or communication devices : a generator or even a battery may deliver an unstable voltage that would be incompatible with the input tolerance of some highly sensitive equipment.
